Dell Young Leaders: Forging Pathways to Career Success
From Student to Health Care Specialist: Karabo’s Journey with Dell Young Leaders

Overview
The Dell Young Leaders program provides scholarships and holistic support, helping students like Karabo complete their degrees and launch meaningful careers.
Impact
Nearly 1,000 Dell Young Leaders, including 249 in health sciences, have transitioned into the workforce, with 98% securing jobs or further studies in three months.
Before Becoming a Dell Young Leader
“My neighbor was one of the first people in my community to go to university. Like her, I wanted to create a better life for my family.” Karabo has always been a determined student with a strong drive to succeed, but like many young people in South Africa – where only 6% of youth with limited resources earn a university degree – she needed access to the necessary resources to succeed.
Ambition Meets Opportunity
Everything changed when Karabo became a Dell Young Leader. “The Dell Young Leaders program played a crucial role in developing my potential through leadership symposiums, mental health check-ups, networking opportunities, and career readiness initiatives,” she says. With this support, she discovered her passion for radiography and pursued specialist training in MRI.
The Future is Bright
Today, Karabo is a diagnostic radiographer stationed in a hospital’s MRI department. She leads efforts to advance the field, mentors fellow radiographers, engages in global medical partnerships, and is committed to improving imaging access for communities where resources are limited. From a determined student to a leader in health care, Karabo’s journey shows what’s possible when ambition meets opportunity.
“I am deeply grateful for the program’s ongoing support, even years after graduating. The continued support ensures Dell Young Leaders are well-equipped for the responsibilities entrusted to us in our workplaces.”
