Transforming Agriculture: Cinch’s Path to Sustainable Income for Kenyan Families

Overview
Through training and resources, we’re helping young people gain the in-demand skills that will lead to better job opportunities.
Impact
Each year, our partners in India prepare 400,000 young people with essential skills for today’s workplace.
The Emerging Potential of India’s Workforce
India has one of the world’s largest youth populations, with over 600 million people under the age of 25. However, securing stable, well-paying jobs remains a challenge. The Periodic Labour Force Survey (PLFS) annual report highlights that only 5% of youth in India have received formal vocational training, leaving millions without the skills needed to thrive in today’s economy.
As industries evolve and automation reshapes traditional jobs, skills training is critical to bridge the gap between education and employment. Investing in high-demand industries—such as technology, healthcare, and manufacturing—ensures young people can access better jobs, lifting families out of poverty, driving economic growth, and building a stronger workforce. Expanding skilling initiatives isn’t just about employment; it’s about unlocking India’s full potential as a global economic leader.
Boosting Skills for Work
Our partners are equipping young people with essential skills for work and connecting them with employers in high-demand sectors throughout India. Through innovative training and technology, they’re using a variety of approaches to create lasting impact and drive change at scale.
- Bringing Skills Training to Local Communities: Lighthouse Communities Foundation is making sure skills training reaches those who need it most—right in their neighborhoods. Their goal? Enroll 20% of eligible candidates in each community, equipping them with essential life skills and industry-specific training. By unlocking job opportunities, they’re not just changing individual futures—they’re driving economic progress across entire communities.
- Partnering With Colleges to Scale Tech Talent: With demand for tech skills soaring, byteXL is stepping in to bridge the tech skills gap. By partnering with tier 2 and 3 colleges, they’re bringing industry-focused training straight to students—integrating practical learning and preparing them for the workforce. So far, 200,000 students have gained the skills they need to land jobs and start strong from day one.
- Expanding Access through Technology: For many women in India, quality skills training has been out of reach—often limited to a handful of major cities. Airblack is changing that with mobile-first beauty industry training, allowing women to learn from home and turn their skills into income. Whether securing a job, starting a freelance career, or launching a business, more than half of trainees earn their first income during the course.
When organizations, educators, and employers work together, they don’t just create job opportunities—they build a stronger, more inclusive economy. With the right training and connections, more young people can step into high-demand careers, shaping a future where opportunity is within reach for everyone.
