Where We Started

The February 2022 invasion of Ukraine left countless families without shelter, health care, food, or clean water. We responded quickly, partnering with organizations already on the ground to deliver vital aid.

What We Did

Based on input from partners organizations on the ground in Ukraine, we focused on three critical areas:

  • Emergency aid distribution: Delivering food, shelter, hygiene kits, mental health support, and urgent assistance to families in crisis.
  • Medical support deployment: Providing essential medical supplies, establishing field hospitals, and training health care workers to restore critical services for displaced populations.
  • Refugee resettlement assistance: Connecting refugees with transportation, housing, education, and job training to help them secure safety and rebuild their lives.
How It Helped

In partnership with eight organizations working directly with families and communities, we helped millions in Ukraine access food, supplies, health care, and safe shelter.

  • Catholic Relief Services provided 3.3 million people with food and 350,000 displaced Ukrainians with shelter.
  • Samaritan’s Purse established five emergency field hospitals and two mobile units, training over 2,000 health care workers to serve more than 28,000 patients.
  • The American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee evacuated 13,000 Jewish people and delivered medical care to 35,000 elderly individuals who remained in Ukraine.
